Magnetite – natural magnet

Saint Hildegarde gives a surprisingly poetic description of her formation: “The magnet is born from the slime of certain poisonous crawling animals. The venom hardens like a stone.” (Physica ch XVIII)

St. Hildegarde gives only one virtue for this stone, which is linked to psychic stability. It is used through contact between magnetite and saliva.
